Overall I am satisfied with the purchase but a little disappointed in the state that it arrived in. My husband and I spent added time using glue to reassemble pieces of the wood that had broken off. The edge protector still isn’t in the best shape but there wasn’t much we could do. The top locking system came screwed in very off centered so it is not aligned with the locking system on the bottom by about a half an inch. If I’m being honest, if I didn’t need the cage in order to have Nibbles in my classroom… I would have returned it rather than worked so hard to make it a suitable cage. Within the first day Nibbles (true to his name) had one of the hideouts chewed away at the back. This is parent because it’s in his nature but looking at the wood that was used in kind of upset in the quality. The chew toy accessory is made of a more dense wood than the hideout is. Also it seems an oversight that there is such a big gap between the tray and the cage. Nibbles prefers to potty in one corner of his cages and it builds up after only two days. With the gap, the fecal matter is able to fall through and in a classroom that’s a huge safety hazard. I’m having to monitor the gap daily to ensure nothing has spilled out.The up side is that it’s bigger than it appears and I’ve gotten a lot of compliments on it. It’s like everyone’s first overpriced apartment… beautiful at a glance, but after a week you realize everything is actually cheap and falling apart.This product is really nice but one of my guineapigs keep chewing on the cage but I'm getting them more chew toys. my bigger guineapig (who has long hair) keeps knocking over the hides because she's two big but I use the hides as hay holders now instead great productI didn’t realize how big it was but my little hamster loves his mansion. It came with two hide houses and toys. I set it up by myself and it’s not heavy like you think it would be. Very sturdy and durable. Make sure to have the electric screwdriver or drill definitely made a difference.I don't understand chew proof it came with chew toys.It seemed to be a good idea, however cleaning is not easy because if you pull the drawer out all the bedding just goes on the floor. so it is to be deeper The wood could be a little bit more sturdy it's not chew proof. Not suitable for guinea pigsWe love the size of this cage for our two rats!! They are not full grown yet but I can tell it will still be perfect for when they are a little bigger. It is cheaply made like the wood is pretty soft and the mesh is thin, but for the price it’s to be expected. We did tape the front hinge shut because we were worried our cat might be able to paw it open because it’s pretty loose.We have a hamster. My wife and daughter bought this and when I put it together it's more like a hamster townhouse rather than a cage. I'm probably going to cut off one floor as the hamster never goes to the 3rd floor anyway. It was their fault for not looking at the measurements, but they saw the word hamster and figured the size would be right. For a hamster I'd think we could do with 50% less real estate.I took off a star only to get people to see this review and think abou the size. It's actually a nice cage for the price. It took me about 40 minutes to screw this all together.
